Tips for the first day of skiing
- Children can start skiing from around 3-4 years of age. They learn quickly through imitation and playful exercises
- Shorter skis, approximately up to the middle of the chest, are easier to handle at the beginning. Don't forget your helmet and goggles!
- To get used to it, the children can simply ski with the skis at first.
- Parents can then pull their child while they practise simple balance exercises such as standing on one leg or shifting their weight.
- If the child is confident enough to ride downhill a short distance, it can practice "pizza", i.e. the plow.
- Next, a ski school with trained instructors is a very good option. There, children learn in groups with their peers and using playful methods.
- The most important thing with all exercises: The focus should be on having fun. Children develop a love of skiing in a relaxed atmosphere with lots of praise.

Blue slopes in the ski area
Beginners can make their first attempts at skiing on blue slopes. There is a kids' park right next to the Stümpflingbahn valley station - the Valepper practice slope. There are also slopes for beginners at the Kurvenlift valley station. Here, for example, is the Bayernhang Seillift. Those who are already a little more experienced can also venture up on the Kurvenlift.

Family skiing on the east slope lift
Families whose children have outgrown the beginner slopes, but for whom the entire ski area is still a size too big, are in good hands at the Osthanglift. The Osthanglift can be reached via the Stümpfling chairlift and provides access to the manageable eastern slope. The slope is wider and more gently curved - and leads directly back to the entrance at the Osthanglift. The gentle slopes also offer parents a relaxed opportunity to share the joy of skiing with their children.

Child-friendly slopes in the ski area
The entire Spitzingsee-Tegernsee ski area is very family-friendly. It is dominated by wide, red pistes that are easy for children to master. The ski area is clearly laid out and offers a few T-bar lifts as well as two 4-seater chairlifts, which children often find more comfortable. The only thing to bear in mind here is that children under the age of six may only use the chairlifts when accompanied by an adult - they usually need a little help getting on and off.
